There is a bus stop on the main road into Abergavenny, 200m from the bottom of Church Lane. There is a train station inAbergavenny, which is approximately a 40 minute walk or a 5 minute drive from the cottages; there is parking at the train station. Abergavenny bus station is opposite the Aldi store, about a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive from the cottages. The information pack in each cottage gives details of local taxi firms.
The lane to the cottages climbs uphill from the village of Llanfoist. It is single track with passing places. The lane becomes the private driveway for Beacon Park Cottages (Wharfinger’s Cottage, Incline Cottage and Dry Dock Cottage), as well as our home (The Boathouse), at a set of security gates with keypad access. The driveway continues across the private bridge over the canal.
You can unload your vehicle and passengers adjacent to the cottage you have booked. We ask that you then use the allocated parking space for the duration of your stay.

Mobile phone reception at the cottages is good.There is free wi-fi throughout the cottages.
Parking for one car is available close to the cottage, with additional space next to the log store for unloading and occasional visitors.
Wooden flooring throughout, with the exception of the wet room which has a stone floor with underfloor heating.
Lighting, heating and music can all be operated from a tablet in the cottage, or manually if preferred.
All doors are 0.75m wide.
All sockets are at 0.5m high. However, in the kitchen, two sets of double sockets are at worktop height.
All light switches are at 1.2m high.
Bedside switches are at 0.7m high.
There is one point of access to Dry Dock Cottage. This is via a slightly sloping path(approximately 2m from the unloading area) and six steps to a covered entrance area, in which there is space to store boots and coats.
The garden and seating area is an elevated space to the rear of the cottage, accessed via a gravel and grass slope. There is a table and chairs, and space to put the BBQ which is stored at the top of the steps next to the entrance to the cottage.
Dry Dock Cottage is on four levels.
The dining and kitchen area are on the same level as the entrance door.
There are 4 steps down to the seating area in front of the bi-fold doors.
There are 3 steps up to the bedroom area on either side – meaning that the handrail can be on either side when ascending and descending.
There are 7 steps to the cinema area. There is no handrail but a wall to hold onto on the left-hand side when descending and on the right-hand side when ascending.
There is a large level access wet room behind the bedroom. The door opens inwards. Opposite the door is the toilet with a sink unit (and storage underneath) to the left of the toilet. The handbasin has turn taps. The shower has a fixed screen and an opening of 0.75m.
There is a double-ended bath in the bedroom area with a lever operated mixer tap.
There is a bedside table on each side of the bed with a lamp on each. The switch for these is on the power cord. There are switches next to each bed to control lighting in the remainder of the cottage.
There are smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in both the kitchen and bedroom. These are mains wired with battery back-up.

There is stone flooring in the lounge, kitchen and bathroom, and wooden flooring in the bedroom. There is underfloor heating throughout the cottage.

There is one access point to Incline cottage. This door opens outwards and is accessed via a gently sloping stone path from the gravelled unloading area in front of the cottage. The door is approximately 3m from the gravelled area.
The entrance door takes you into the porch; there is a bench under which boots and shoes can be stored, and there are hooks for hanging coats.
The path from the gravelled unloading area in front of the cottage is stone, and splits in two: to the right the path leads to the cottage door, via a gentle slope; straight ahead, via a wooden bridge, the path leads to the seating area and hot tub. The seating area, where there is a table, two chairs and a small fire pit, is approximately 10m from the gravelled area. The hot tub is accessed via 3 steps.
There are no stairs at Incline Cottage.
There is a large level access wet room off the bedroom – the door opens inwards. Opposite the door is the toilet with a sink unit (storage underneath) to the left of the toilet. The handbasin has turn taps. The shower has a fixed screen and an opening of 0.56m.
There is a double-ended bath in the bedroom with two separate taps.
There is a bedside table on each side of the bed with a lamp on each. The switch for these is on the power cord. There is a blind for the Velux window above the bed, which is operated via a remote control.
There are smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in both the kitchen and bedroom. These are mains wired with battery back-up.
There is parking for three cars close to the cottage, with additional space next to the log store for unloading and occasional visitors.
There is stone flooring in the downstairs cloakroom, utility room and kitchen. There is wooden flooring and a rug in the lounge, and wooden flooring in the main bathroom and ensuite. All other areas are carpeted, including the stairs.
There are three access points to Wharfinger’s Cottage. The back door, accessed via 12 stone steps with handrail on the right hand side descending, brings you in on the ground floor. The front entrance can be accessed either via the 12 steps or around the side of the house, which is all on one level, and through the garden gate via a stone sloping path – suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The third entrance is via a porch to the side of the house, level with the driveway with one step into the porch.
The front garden can be accessed via the 12 stone steps to the back door or around the side of the house via the garden gate as detailed above. There is a gravelled path running from the back door at the base of the steps all around the front of the house and joining the path to the garden gate at the side of the property via two stone steps The lawn is accessed via two stone steps off the gravelled path or directly off the stone path leading from the garden gate. This area of garden borders the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, and there is no boundary fencing. There is a stone patio area at lawn level on which there is Bramblecrest garden furniture – six armchairs, an oval table and a parasol.
The garden to the rear of the house is terraced.There are three stone steps to the first level of terracing. There are two benches at this level and a pond fed via a spring; this is an ideal spot for relaxing. The stone path continues across the rear of the flower border with stone steps at either end. These steps are steep and uneven, varying in width and height, and provide access to the upper terraced levels of the garden.
Wharfinger's Cottage is on three floors. There is a flight of 12 steps from the ground to the middle floor; these have a handrail on the right hand side ascending. There is a flight of 11 steps from the middle to the upper floor; the handrail is on the right hand side ascending. There are two steps between the kitchen and dining room, and two steps between the kitchen and the cellar.
The main bathroom is situated on the middle of the three floors. The sink, which is opposite the door, has lift up lever mixer taps and is built into a unit onto which wash bags can be stored; there is a mirror above the sink unit. There is a double-ended bath with a mixer tap in the centre of the long side of the bath. The tap is a lift up lever which moves left and right to adjust water temperature. There is a double-sized shower across the end wall of the bathroom, opposite the bath. There is a threshold step to get into the shower. There is a fixed shower head and an additional detachable shower head. There are safety LED lights incorporated into the shower head to indicate appropriate temperature setting i.e. blue 'cold', green 'safe temperature', red 'too hot'. The toilet is to the right of the sink unit.The sink unit can be used to steady oneself when getting off the toilet.
The ensuite shower room to the main bedroom is on the upper floor of the house and comprises a toilet - opposite the door; a sink unit with storage underneath, space for toiletries around it and a large mirror above it; and a shower with a threshold step. The shower is electric, with a pull cord for power.
There is a toilet and handbasin on the ground floor of the cottage, off the utility room, with one step up to it.
Doors on the ground floor are 0.75m wide, with handles at 1m.
Doors on the middle floor are 0.75m wide, with handles at 1m. The porch has two sets of double doors with total opening width of 1.8m.
Doors on the upper floor are 0.75m wide with handles at 1m.

The kitchen and utility room light switches are at 1.4m high.
There are two double sockets in the utility room at 0.3m high.
There are three double sockets in the kitchen at 1.1m high.
The dining room has light switches at 1.4m; all lights are dimmable. There are three sockets at 0.3m high.
Middle floor
The entrance hall has light switches at 1.4m high, two double sockets at 0.8m high and one double socket at 0.5m high. The sitting room has a light switch at 1.4m high and three double sockets at 0.3m high.
Upper floor
In bedroom one, overlooking the terraced garden at the back of the cottage, there is a kingsize bed and an ensuite shower room.The light switch is at 1.4m high. There are bedside lamps on each side of the bed, with toggle switches on the power cables. There are three single socket sat 0.3m high, and two double sockets at 0.3m high.
In bedroom two, overlooking the canal, there is a kingsize bed which can be made up as twin beds. The light switch is at 1.4m high, with an additional light pull above the bed. There are bedside lamps on each side of each bed, with toggle switches on the power cables. There are two double sockets at 0.5m high.
In bedroom three, overlooking the canal, there is a double bed. The light switch is at 1.4m high, with an additional light pull above the bed. There are bedside lamps on each side of each bed, with toggle switches on the power cables. There are three double sockets at 0.3m high.
There is a smoke alarm on each of the three floors of Wharfinger's Cottage; these are mains wired.
